Online Microteaching (Task 5) - What My Microteaching Session Taught Me About Digital Pedagogy

What My Microteaching Session Taught Me About Digital Pedagogy My online microteaching experience was one of the most valuable learning opportunities in my teaching journey so far. Teaching a Grade 7 English lesson on folktales in an online environment required me to think carefully about engagement, pacing, and the use of ICT tools. After reviewing my microteaching recording and reading through my peers’ detailed feedback, I gained a deeper understanding of my strengths as a beginner teacher and the areas I still need to develop. One of the most successful elements of my lesson was the way I introduced the topic. I began by asking peers to share any folktales or fairy tales they remembered from childhood. Many peers commented that this immediately activated prior knowledge and made the lesson feel relatable and engaging. This simple strategy helped create a sense of connection even in the online space and set the tone for a collaborative learning environment. Throughout the less...

My Social Service Learning Log (Task 4) - A Journey Into Supporting Learners’ Emotional Well-Being

A Journey Into Supporting Learners’ Emotional Well-Being   One of the most significant parts of my teaching experience has been service-learning, and my Social Action Project, Mental Health Matters Lite – Emotions Check-In & Support Wall, gave me a deeper and more useful understanding of the function that emotional well-being plays in a school setting. Since many students at Chameleon Junior School find it difficult to discuss their emotions honestly, I wanted to use this initiative to help students in Grade 7 by providing a secure and structured means for them to do so. The program's main goals were to promote journaling, offer emotional support, and foster a positive learning environment. Reflecting on the effectiveness of the project , each component contributed to a positive shift in the classroom. The Create Awareness component, particularly the Emoji Check-In Wall and awareness posters, helped learners acknowledge their feelings without fear of judgement....

Life of a Teacher : Task 2.3- A Journey of Responsibility, Reflection, and Becoming the Teacher I’m Meant to Be

A Journey of Responsibility, Reflection, and Becoming the Teacher I’m Meant to Be Completing the three days in the “Life of a Teacher” routine was one of the most transformative parts of my Teaching Experience. It pushed me to step fully into the role of a teacher  - not just teaching lessons, but embracing all the responsibilities that come with the profession. Over these three days, I experienced the reality of a teacher's workload: early morning preparation, active teaching, classroom management, marking, admin tasks, and being emotionally present for every learner. Although it was a lot to carry, it helped me see just how much I have grown. During the first four weeks of Teaching Experience, I often felt unsure of myself. I was still observing my mentor teacher, understanding the school routines, and slowly taking on portions of the teaching load. The responsibilities felt heavy at times, and I relied a lot on guidance and reassurance. By the last four weeks, however, something...
